International Manufacturing Forum Series 2021 – 9th December 2021 –

The International Manufacturing Forum Series is a major initative from the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the Polytechnic of Leiria in Portugal. This is a twelve day virtual conference spread over 12 months, with a one conference held on the first thursday of each month. Each one day conference will focus on a specific topic within the broad umbrella of Manufacturing. There will be a particular emphasis on topics related to Industry 4.0 and Digital Manufacturing. CDRSP is a centre of excellence in the field of Direct Digital Manufacturing and was recently judged by an International Panel of the Foundation for Science and Technology to be the best Research Unit in the field of Mechanical Engineering and System Engineering in Portugal.
The December Session of the IMFS 2021 will be online and presential at CDRSP building at Marinha Grande, Portugal.
The December Session of the IMFS 2021 will be split in to two parts. A morning session will present and discuss a Multiple Laboratory Trial of Additive Manufacturing and in the afternoon foccused on an EU project SoftAwarewe which is open to all

Catarina Reis

DEI ESTG – Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal

Catarina I. Reis is a lecturer in the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (ESTG) since 2002. She holds a degree in Computer Science (University of Coimbra) and a PhD in Multimedia Engineering (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya). She lectures software engineering and programming classes to the undergraduate and master courses of Computer Science at ESTG. Her research topics include but are not restricted to healthcare informatics topics (e.g., e-therapy, mobile health), general mobile development (android, iOS and Web) and agile software development practices. She is a Professional Scrum Master, the co-author of the book “Desenvolvimento em iOS”, FCA, and co-editor of the book “Internet of Things and Advanced Application in Healthcare”, IGI Global. Currently, she is a member of the Computer Science and Communication Research Center (CIIC) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (CIIC).

Paula Pascoal-Faria

Paula Faria is a Lecturer of the Mathematics Department at the School for Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and a Research Member of the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. Master of Science in Pure Mathematics (Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics) and with a PhD in Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering by the University of Lisbon (Thesis: Numerical Modelling in Transcranial Neuronal Polarization: Clinical Application to Epilepsy) . She is the Head of the R&D Computational and Mathematical Methods Research Team at the CDRSP.

Geoffrey Mitchell received a first degree in Metallurgy from the City of London Polytechnic, an MSc in Physical Research Techniques and a PhD degree in Polymer Physics from the CNNA/University of Cambridge.

Geoffrey Mitchell is a Vice-Director of the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development, a Coordinator Investigator at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Emeritus Professor at the University of Reading UK. He is/was supervisor/co-supervisor of fifty PhD and forty MSc Students.
